Implats starts firing striking Rustenburg workers

Platinum mining company Impala Platinum (Implats) has started firing the rock drill operators participating in a strike at its Rustenburg operations after they failed to report for duty. A court declared the strike over salary grievances illegal and Implats gave the 5 000 workers until Tuesday to return to work.
